Hi, friends! I'm writing from San Rafael for one more night.
Today, we did some cool tourist-y stuff outside San Francisco:
We went to the top of Mount Tamalpais, where you could see the Karl the Fog clearly. (Notice how the fog just stops abruptly. Unnerving, right?)
Then we walked through Muir Woods, a large redwood forest. Some of the trees are over a thousand years old. Super cool.
And we walked about half of the Golden Gate Bridge, which was still foggy but neat to see up close.
For lunch, we went to In-N-Out. (Honestly? It was fine. I don't get the hubbub.)
Then we went into the city, where we parked on a hill that was practically straight up-and-down. (Who decided to put a major city here? It's gloomy, 10 degrees colder than the North Bay, and so much of it is basically vertical. Nonetheless, they’ve made it work—the City's housing architecture is remarkable. So much is similar between the houses, but there's still a huge amount of variety in style.)
I got a quick drink with a friend from college, and then we went to dinner in Chinatown. San Francisco has the largest, and oldest, Chinatown in America. Very cool part of town.
Tomorrow morning, I'm back on the train for the day. To LA! Along the coast in the Coast Starlight, so it should be scenic.

Glad you got to Chinatown- makes it even sadder that DC’s all but disappeared. Enjoy the next leg of your trip, and guard your new headphones 😉.
